Akeelah Anderson is a precocious 11-year-old girl from south Los Angeles with a gift for spelling. Even she is not really good in other subjects, she works well with words. Despite the objections of her mother Tanya, Akeelah enters various spelling contests, for which she is tutored by the forthright Dr. Larabee. Akeelah's aptitude earns her an opportunity to compete for a spot in the Scripps National Spelling Bee and in turn unites her neighbors who witness the courage and inspiration of one amazing little girl. The most interesting part while watching this movie is during the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition. All of us enjoy the moment as we were sitting and watching the competition live. Great movie!!!!!!!!!
This movie was actually dedicated for anyone who had a favorite subject in school. As a teacher, we should be alert that students come with different level and interest. We have to encourage and support them so that they will be more confidence while performing the ability that they have.
